Leila Noorani is a painter and printmaker. Her work has shown in galleries in California, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, and Alaska. She earned an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Michigan, and taught drawing and design at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Her work is iconic, drawn from subjects she has encountered in her travels. She paints primarily on handmade panels she crafts from wood that is specially chosen for its grain, which she incorporates into the piece itself.
Her recent series, The Last Herd, is dedicated to the wild horses of the western states, and is inspired by her almost primal connection to horses (which was born in the Northern Sierra foothills on the back of "Zeus," a retired racehorse) and through her journeys to wild horse collection points in California, Oregon and Nevada.
Leila currently lives and works in San Francisco, California.
